You've set up your web page, now you need to install a free website hit counter that's invisible to your visitors and contains no ads?
Try these free website hit counters:
* Google Analytics - This free counter from Google easily provides you with the HTML code to plop right before the section of your code and voila! -- you're off and counting hits with a hit counter that's invisible to your readers, but offers you lots of info with graphs that tell you where visitors came from, how many came, how long they stayed, etc.
* StatCounter.com - Free also, and allows you to place invisible hit counter code on your website. Or, you can be a braggadicio like in the header of my blog currently, and brag about how many visitors you have.
StatCounter.com offers real-time stats with a maximum log size of 100 mg, so this only gives you detailed info about a set number of visitors, but you will get the total visitors and pageviews reported in a nice graph.
I love that StatCounter can show you all these lovely features:
So, choose your free website hit counter today and get those stats up!

According to TechCrunch, Google has indeed purchased Feedburner for around $100 million.
At first Google's purchase of Feedburner was just a rumor hotly circulated around the net.
Now we know it's true, and people are wondering:
Will we all have "Ads by Google" in our RSS feeds now?
Can we run other ad networks on our feeds anymore?
Will a new Google engineering office spring up in Chicago?
These are the intriguing questions that time will answer...

I just read about this site called DONORSCHOOSE.ORG,and I think it's brilliant for getting teachers the funding their particular projects need.
Just look at the Donor's Choose List of States in the attached picture from their site. Hopefully more states will be added.
In the meantime, the one on there about Hurricane Katrina destroying computers seems really worthwhile. This is exactly the way Sisters in Service convinced me to donate to build a school in Africa.
People give more when we can see what our money is helping.
God bless DonorsChoose.org!
I hope they get lots and lots of funding.
Teachers who want to get their projects listed on DonorsChoose.org should check out these terms I saw on DonorsChoose.org:
Teacher User Agreement
Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal for a DonorsChooseSM project.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY. This is a legal agreement binding on you and DonorsChoose, Inc. (“DC,” “us,” “ourselves” or “we”) regarding use of the DC website ("Site"). By clicking the “I Agree” button at the bottom of this page, you agree to the terms and conditions of this User Agreement, including the Web Site Terms of Use. If you do not agree to this User Agreement or to the Terms of Use, you should click “I Do Not Agree” and exit this Site.
At DC, we strive to protect the rights of our donors, the students and teachers we serve and ourselves. We look forward to working with you in funding eligible projects.
A. Your General Responsibilities
By submitting a proposal, you promise that: you are a licensed teacher, librarian, guidance counselor, coach or other public school employee directly serving students (click here for our eligibility guidelines) currently employed at the school you note; the activity you propose is legal and falls within the standards of your board of education; all information you provide to DonorsChoose is accurate, and you will promptly update the information to keep it accurate; any proposals you submit are solely for you and your class and are not on behalf of any other teacher or class; you have full rights to any ideas, descriptions and materials you submit to DC, and that you (and not DC) are solely responsible for such submission, including its legality and appropriateness, and that all such materials are your original creations and use by DC will not infringe on any rights of any third party. You will be responsible for the use of your user ID and password for access to teacher-restricted portions of the Site, and shall not share your ID and password with anyone else. You agree to exit from your account at the end of each session and to immediately notify DC of any unauthorized use of your password or account.
B. Rights You Grant to DC
While you retain ownership in the works you create such as the proposal submissions (except for the photographs you take - please see below), as to all information or materials created by you and communicated or submitted to DC through this Site and all materials (except for the photographs) which you send to DC after the completion of the project, you hereby grant to DC a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, fully paid and fully sublicensable license to use the submission and project materials, and portions thereof, in furtherance of DC's purposes and activities and to promote DC and its programs, in any medium, and DC may copy, publish, display, create derivative works and make other uses of the submission and project materials (in whole or in part) and license others to do the same, for DC’s purposes, whether or not your proposal is funded.
C. Your Responsibilities Should Your Proposal Be Funded
If your proposal is approved by DC (in DC's sole discretion), posted on the Site and funded, you agree to use the materials or funds received solely as stated in the proposal and in a manner directed by DC. You agree that requested resources will be used by students or to provide a student experience as described in your proposal. You agree to provide each child who will engage in the activity with a DC Permission Slip as provided by DC, and to exert reasonable efforts to ensure that each child returns the Permission Slip signed by their parent or legal guardian. Regardless of how many activities DC funds for your class each school year, only one permission slip per student per school year per teacher need be collected. You will make a reasonable effort to take photos of students who have returned a signed DC Permission Slip and shall provide each signed Permission Slip to DC upon request. You agree that only students who have provided signed Permission Slips will be included in photographs regarding the activity. You will use DC’s funds and materials only for the project DC has approved, and agree to follow all other instructions as provided or directed by DC regarding the funded activity. You understand that the promptness and thoroughness with which you return the photographs and thank-you notes may effect how many proposals you are allowed to submit in the future. Please see How Points are Earned and Benefits Gained.
D. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold DC, its officers, agents, advisors, directors, employees and consultants, harmless from and against any and all claims, causes, actions, damages or penalties arising out of your breach of your obligations under this User Agreement.
E. Disclaimers
DC will not be required to treat any Submission or Project Materials as confidential. Teacher's sole remedy for any breach of this User Agreement is to terminate this User Agreement and stop using the Site and any DC services or resources. In no event shall DC or any officers, agents, advisors, directors, employees or consultants of DC be responsible to Teacher for any claims or damages whatsoever arising under this User Agreement, whether direct, indirect or consequential. Please see the Terms of Use for additional disclaimers.
F. General
DC reserves the right to exclude any teacher from use of the Site, in DC's sole discretion.
All directions and requirements stated on the Site shall apply to any submitted proposal.
The terms appearing under "General" in the Terms of Use shall apply to this Donor User Agreement as if fully set forth in it.
By clicking “I Agree,” you agree to the terms and conditions of this Teacher User Agreement, which include the Site Terms of Use. If you do not agree to this User Agreement or to the Terms of Use, you should click “I Do Not Agree” and exit the Site.
Nicolette Sheridan Leaving Desperate Housewives?

Is Nicolette Sheridan leaving Desperate Housewives?
That's what I wondered when I saw Nicolette's -- er, Edie's -- feet dangling after she used a pretty silky scarf to hang herself after Carlos discovered the pack of birth-control pills.
It was a plot a la Erica Kane and Tom from All My Children years ago, when Tom desperately wanted a baby, but Erica kept taking her pill.
But does DH's most-famous-summer-cliffhanger since "Who Shot J.R.?" mean Nicolette Sheridan is leaving Desperate Housewives?
This TV Guy thinks not, and I tend to agree with him.
I'll bet you a dollar to a donut -- as my mom used to say and I still don't really know what it means -- that on the Fall opener of Desperate Housewives, Carlos will rush in just in time to cut Edie down as she coughs and sputters and still looks fabulous...

Blogger Stuck on Saving Message After Rearranging Your Page Elements?

by Paula Neal MooneyAre you a Blogspot blogger whose blog gets stuck on the "Saving..." message after rearranging your page elements?
Me too! And now I'm on the hunt to solve this problem.
Maybe I've just got too many page elements on my main blog.
Maybe it's something else.
The blog saves the actual page element changes I've made, but when it comes to rearranging the page elements and then hitting save, it just sticks at the "Savings..." message.
I left it on the "Savings..." prompt for a long time, but it didn't save the rearrange.
Have you experienced this problem too and fixed it? Leave a comment here and tell us all!
Thanks!
Digg Count Button Gone From Your Website?

Today I noticed the Digg Counter button like this image displayed here that I love so much for tracking Diggs on my main blog has disappeared, so I'm testing out Alex Bosworth's Digg Button javascript code to see if that works.
My list of blogger salaries is up to 104 Diggs -- how can you tell if it's buried? -- and I like to see how many more Diggs it will receive without having to jump over to Digg all the time.
I know all about the new Digg for Firefox toolbar thing, which shows you the number of Diggs on the bottom, but I like the old button because I know not all of my readers have Firefox yet.

by Paula Neal MooneyOne of my favorite features in Parade magazine is the issue where they grab a random sampling of people and report their incomes -- from the millionaires to the working poor.
Since I'm fascinated with how much money bloggers and webmasters are making nowadays, I've created a similar list -- a random sampling of people making money on the net.
Who's on Paula's List of Blogger and Webmaster Salaries?
I spent hours and hours scouring the internet for the last-reported information about bloggers/webmasters and their revenue. Some are hard-core daily bloggers, some run sites with lots of pageviews but not much written content -- like dating sites.

Is Deborah Jeane Palfrey's infamous Washington List outing 10,000 men?
Is the DC madam a Democrat?
Is Palfrey a Republican?
These are all the questions folks are asking.
I can't find if Palfrey is a registered Democrat or Republican yet.
Can't find her voting record.
Help please, net sleuths. Leave me a comment with any valid news reports of Palfrey's political persuasions.
Like one site said, sex scandals are a bipartisan issue.
